Evening and Sunday changes
From Sunday October 28th there will be major changes to evening and Sunday services on most of the Peterborough city network. The evening changes apply on Mondays to Saturdays except where otherwise shown.
Citi 1 - the early-evening service will be increased to half-hourly (until 2015 from Queensgate to Werrington and Orton).
Citi 2 - there will be a new evening and Sunday service to Bretton Centre via Netherton, Longthorpe, Thorpe Wood and South Bretton. The evening service will leave Queensgate half-hourly to 1930 then hourly to 2230. The Sunday service will run half-hourly during shopping hours and hourly Sunday evening.
Citi 3 - the evening service to Whittlesey will be withdrawn (meaning Stanground will be served hourly by Yaxley journeys). However, Whittlesey will now be served on Sundays, with an hourly service during shopping hours.
Citi 4 - evening and Sunday journeys will leave 15 minutes later than at present.
Citi 5 - evening and Sunday journeys will leave 30 minutes later than at present.
Citi 6 - the evening service to Hampton will be extended to run all evening, with hourly journeys from Queensgate 1950-2250 (the last journey extends to Sawtry replacing the last journey on route 16). Hampton will also gain a new Sunday service, leaving Queensgate hourly 0850 to 2250.
Cavalier 415 - this becomes a half-hourly Orton Northgate - Orton Centre - Serpentine Green service, and there will also be a new Sunday service on this route. Lynch Wood is no longer served, and the evening Queensgate - Hampton - Orton service is withdrawn, as is Stagecoach's Sunday service 415 (recently renumbered from 15), replaced by the additional journeys on Stagecoach citi 1 and 6.
From Sunday September 30th the price of the Stagecoach Dayrider ticket will increase from £2.80 to £3.00. The Dayrider Plus ticket remains unchanged, as does the weekly Megarider ticket. However the Megarider Plus ticket was increased from £13 to £15 from September 10th, and the monthly ticket is now £60, up from £52.
Heritage Buses at Orton Mere
There will be a gathering of heritage buses at Orton Mere on Sunday September 30th as part of the Nene Valley Railway's 1940s weekend. Free bus trips will be on offer. For further details of the weekend see the NVR website.
TransLinc London service to be withdrawn
The Boston - Peterborough - London coach service operated by TransLinc will be withdrawn from September 27th. This will leave National Express as the only operator of express coach services from Peterborough.
Oundle Road Diversion (revised item)
Due to roadworks being carried out by EDF Energy, Oundle Road will become one way (outbound) between Town Bridge and New Road from Monday August 28th until March 2008. Buses operating inbound to the City will be diverted via New Road and London Road, but buses operating from the city are not affected. Originally it was to have been outbound buses that were to be diverted via New Road but this was changed after protests from shopkeepers. Stops not being served on inbound journeys during this closure are Earl Spencer Court, Guild House and The Cherry Tree Public House.
Extension of Westgate closure
The diversions due to the closure of Westgate will continue for longer than anticipated - to September 7th.
Park and Ride returns from September 29th
The Christmas Park and Ride service will run along the same lines as last year, running on Saturdays September 29th to December 29th and on Sundays from November 25th to December 23rd. Service PR1 will run from Pearl's car park at Lynch Wood, returning from Bay 1A at Queensgate, and service PR2 will run from Perkin's Car Park no. 3 at Oxney Road, served by the Sainsbury's bus stop, returning from Queensgate Bay 20.
Further changes in September
Stagecoach 16 - From September 3rd the 1245 from Peterborough will no longer serve Folksworth but the 1615 journey will instead serve the village. There are some minor timing changes at the Huntingdon end of the route as a consequence.
Service 37 - The 1630 Peterborough to Spalding journey will run 20 minutes earlier throughout from September 3rd.
Fowler 138 - Fowler's service from Fleet Hargate to Peterborough (now numbered 138 it seems) will cease to run on Fridays, meaning that from August 29th it will run only on Wednesdays.
Local Link 402 - From September 3rd the 0805 Ailsworth to Stamford journey will be extended back to start from Queensgate at 0745. The 1635 Stamford to Bretton journey will also be extended, arriving Queensgate at 1735.
Local Link 408 - With the opening of the Voyager School, additional journeys will be added on schooldays from September 3rd linking Bretton Centre and North Bretton with the school every 15 minutes from 0708 to 0838, returning from the school in the afternoon.
Local Link 410 - The 1755 Queensgate to Newborough journey will depart at 1810, and will run direct between Newark Road and Newborough, not serving Eye. This also starts from September 3rd.
Judd's 701 - The evening service, which runs on Thursdays and Fridays, will be withdrawn with effect from September 27th.
Major changes to Oundle area from September 3rd
Stagecoach will be introducing a package of changes to their Oundle area routes from September 3rd as follows:
Service X4 - There will be a revised timetable, with daytime journeys towards Peterborough running around 15 minutes later. Evening journeys from Peterborough will run 20 minutes later, with the last departure (to Northampton) being at 2030. The Sunday service is unchanged.
Service 13/13A - Rerouted via Cotterstock and Tansor (instead of Glapthorn and Southwick) at the Oundle end of the route, replacing service 14, and also serves Fotheringhay. Between Kings Cliffe and Peterborough the 13 will continue to serve Stibbington but will then run to and from Peterborough via Ailsworth and Castor rather than Alwalton (this will mean the end of buses running from Elton to Stibbington passing Sibson Aerodrome - a curious routeing currently taken only by the 1745 from Peterborough). There will be an additional journey from Peterborough to Kings Cliffe at 0950, continuing to Oundle, and a new afternoon journey from Oundle at 1315 via Kings Cliffe to Peterborough.
Service 14 - This route number will be used only by the Orton Northgate service (with the exception of an early morning journey from Oundle Rockingham Hills), the country service to Oundle and Thrapston being renumbered X14. However, the service will be extended beyond Newcombe Way to Orton Southgate, performing a clockwise loop (Southgate Way and Bakewell Road) to the RNIB. This restores an all-day service between the city centre and Orton Southgate, lost in April 2004 when the citi network was introduced.
Service X14 - This is the new number for the country part of service 14, which will be considerably speeded up. It will leave Peterborough via Thorpe Road rather than Oundle Road, and will no longer serve Orton Waterville (still served hourly by 14). Tansor and Cotterstock will no longer be served (replaced by service 13), with buses taking the shorter main road route between Warmington and Oundle, which will be reached in 35 minutes. Warmington and Oundle will benefit from an increased hourly service, since there will no longer be journeys terminating short at Elton, although residents of the latter village will now have to walk up to the main road to catch their service at the Black Horse. The speeding up means that Oundle effectively gets a half-hourly service in conjunction with the X4. The northern part of Oundle (St Peters Road and Rockingham Hills) will revert to being served by journeys extended beyond Oundle, two of which also extend to Glapthorn and Southwick. The extension beyond the main street in Thrapston to the Leisure Centre is withdrawn, but there will be a new 1655 Thrapston - Peterborough journey, giving four journeys in that direction (still three from Peterborough). One journey from Peterborough and two from Thrapston will take a completely new routeing between Oundle and Thrapston serving Stoke Doyle, Wadenhoe, Aldwincle and Islip, replacing infrequent former Alec Head services latterly operated by Stagecoach.
Service 15 - This new service replaces former Alec Head routes 203 and 205, but runs on Mondays to Saturdays instead of just Wednesdays and Saturdays. It runs from Oundle to Peterborough via Polebrook, Lutton, Folksworth and Yaxley, with one morning journey to Peterborough and two afternoon journeys back to Oundle.

Cavalier Travel 331 and 337
There will be changes to Cavalier's Peterborough - Whittlesey - March - Chatteris route 337 from August 19th, although since the Sunday service is unchanged the new timetable effectively takes effect from Monday morning. There are also minor changes to service 331 Peterborough - Ramsey.
Delaine Leyland Day
On Saturday August 25th Delaine will be running a special heritage service between Bourne and Stamford every 20 minutes, using thier two preserved Leyland Titans and the preserved Atlantean, together with their remaining Leyland Tiger and one of the elderly Leyland Olympians new to Greater Manchester. Full details, including a timetable and vehicle roster are on the Delaine website. The depot at Bourne will not be open to the public, however.
Seaside Special to Skegness
On Saturdays and Sundays during the school holidays (July 22nd - September 2nd), also on August Bank Holiday Monday, service X12 will depart Peterborough at 0945, arriving Skegness at 1140. Return from Skegness will be at 1800, arriving Peterborough at 1940. Unlike last year it will not be necessary to change at Boston.
The bus will also serve Walton (Marholm Road), Market Deeping (Market Place) and Spalding (Bus Station). Return fares are £9 adult, £6 child and £20 family (up to four customers, maximum two adults). Single fares are also available. Further information here.
Local Link Day Tickets
The Day Ticket on Peterborough City Council's Local Link services has been increased by 10p to £2.80, and the weekly ticket now costs £10. These are valid on all Local Link services including country services (for example to Newborough or Stamford).
Peterborough City Council's Route Watch page has details of temporary bus route diversions due to road works etc, and a link to this page has been placed in the menu, ensuring the latest information is always available. Only major diversions will be mentioned here in the news page.
Peterborough Bus Rally, Sunday June 10th
Just a reminder that there will be a bus rally at Sacrewell Farm on Sunday between 11am and 4pm. There will be free entry for buses and their passengers. The website says "A pleasant summer Sunday is guaranteed at this attractive venue at Sacrewell Farm close to the junction of the A1 and A47 near Peterborough. All vintage and preserved buses are welcome. Stagecoach will be operating free hourly bus services to and from Peterborough City Centre (Queensgate bus station). Vintage buses from the rally will be offering frequent free bus services to and from Wansford village and Nene Valley Railway so there will be plenty for you and your friends and or family to do."
See the timetable for the free Vintage Bus Services including the service linking Peterborough with Sacrewell Farm. Buses will leave Peterborough hourly from 1015 to 1615.
No buses along Broadway all summer
Due to the closure of parts of Westgate from June 4th to August 25th, many bus services will be rerouted (see map). Buses will use Lincoln Road instead of Broadway, leaving the latter strangely devoid of buses for a few weeks.
Whippet Sunday service 1A cut back
From Sunday June 3rd service 1A operated by Whippet will be reduced to three journeys between Peterborough and Huntingdon, leaving Peterborough at 1005, 1405 and 1705, and Huntingdon at 0905, 1305 and 1605. There will be connections at Huntingdon to and from Cambridge (the service between Huntingdon and Cambridge is also numbered 1A and will run approx hourly, with some two hour gaps).
Citi 4 diversion
From Tuesday May 8th to Friday May 11th Citi 4 (Parnwell - Queensgate) will be diverted between Star Road and Ashcroft Gardens to operate via Eastfield Road due to road works.
Free Vintage Bus Services
Free services operated by vintage Routemaster buses will operate this weekend April 28 and 29 in connection with Nene Valley Railway's 1960s Gala Weekend. Buses will run between Queensgate Bus Station (Bay 20) and Peterborough NVR station and also between Wansford Station and Sacrewell Farm. See the timetable for full details.
Services will also run on June 10 in connection with the Peterborough Bus Rally, also on July 14, 15 (Vintage Weekend), July 21, 22 (Miniature Steam Rally), September 15, 16 (Festival of Food and Farming) and September 29, 30 (1940s Weekend).

Diversions in Walton April 2nd to 14th
Citi 1 will be diverted via the unserved part of Arundel Road, not serving Walton School. Local Link 408 will also be diverted via Arundel Road instead of passing Walton School. On April 2nd the top end of Amberley Slope will be closed and Citi 1 will run via The Steynings, not calling at the Three Horseshoes. For further details see the Council's Route Watch page.
Easter bus services
Good Friday, 6th April - Stagecoach Citi 1 to 6 will be operating a Saturday service, as will Delaine (last bus 1730 from Bourne, 1830 from Peterborough), all City Council Local Link services and Cavalier 415. Easter Saturday, 7th April - normal Saturday services.
Easter Sunday, 8th April - normal Sunday service on Stagecoach, Cavalier, and First X1. Delaine will not be running. There will be a Sunday service on Local Link 404, but 410 will not run.

390 switches from W&M to Cavalier
Wednesday-only service 390 from Wisbech to Peterborough via Parson Drove will be operated by Cavalier Travel from April 11th. Previous operator was W&M Travel of Parson Drove. The afternoon journey from Peterborough will leave at 1330.
First Choice 352 and 353 withdrawn
These Saturday-only services funded by Cambridgeshire will run for the last time on Easter Saturday, April 7th. Service 352 runs to Peterborough from Conington and Holme (which will continue to be served on Wednesdays by service 415), whereas service 353 runs from Benwick and Puddock Bridge. Both are operated by First Choice Travel, part of Aardvark Coaches. The Wednesday 415 will now be operated by Peterborough Dial A Ride.
Alec Head services to be run by Stagecoach
Alec Head of Lutton has had its operator's licence revoked and will cease to run after March 31st. Most of its 'market day' rural bus services will be taken over by Stagecoach including the two which run into Peterborough. Wednesday service 205 will therefore be a Stagecoach service from April 4th, and Saturday service 203 from April 7th, although the latter will be reduced to one journey each way between Thrapston and Peterborough.
31/03/07, updated 03/04/07
Stagecoach changes from April 8th
New service X8 will incorporate the Peterborough - Thorney - March - Chatteris section of X9, and also Peterborough - Thorney service 36. There will be alterations to afternoon and evening timings. Chatteris - Cambridge will run as a separate service, retaining the number X9.
There will also be minor adjustments to Peterborough - Spalding service 37.
Changes from April 2nd affecting R47, 306 and Local Link
Uppingham - Peterborough R47 was due to be withdrawn from April 2nd but one journey each way has been reprieved on Mondays to Fridays, numbered 47. The early morning journey into Peterborough runs as before, extended to Kings School on schooldays, returning from there at 1600 hrs. A fortnightly shopping journey is under discussion by Rutland County Council who fund the service.
Peterborough - Newborough - Maxey service 306, operated by Shaws (Newborough Coaches) will lose its Saturday journeys, leaving just one journey each way on Wednesdays between Peakirk and Peterborough.
Local Link 402 has a new 1545 Stamford to Thornhaugh journey, replacing the 1535 Stamford to Southorpe returning at 1555.
There is a small change to Local Link 408 affecting intermediate times of the 1738 from Bretton (Coningsby Road is served 2 minutes earlier at 1743).
Local Link 411 will be revised on Saturdays and will feature a new 0748 Newborough - Queensgate journey, as well as journeys (to replace service 306) at 0834 from Maxey and 1320 from Queensgate to Maxey. On Mondays to Fridays the 0915 journey from Werrington will run 10 minutes later.
From April 16 there will also be alterations to Local Link 404 with the retiming of the journey to St John Fisher School to arrive by 0845 and the rerouting of the afternoon journey from Stamford to run via Duddington.
18/03/07, updated 30/03/07

The 1640 to Grimsby will leave 5 minutes earlier at 1635.
